How do you train a dog to not be jealous of other dogs around her owner?

My golden retreiver will not allow other dogs to come near me (except my other golden) in the dog park and outside. I can not even go up to them anymore! I try time outs, but it is very hard to get her attention and the other dogs’ owners freak out thinking that she will hurt their dog. She plays fine (submissively) with any dog as long as they don’t get close to me. Any ideas?

    I have seen that problem before and what I have seen done for it is you go to like Petsmart and there is this one collar that is double and if you watch The Dog Whisperer w/ Ceaser Milan he is WONDERFUL its on the National Goegraphic Channel I believe he deals w/ dogs that have that problem and you can see the collar I am talking about on there too.

    I have seen that at parks (before my german shepherd was attacked at home by another dog and I had to quit going to dogparks)
    There are some things you can do, one of them is keep moving while you are at the park. Alot of dogs will be more protective if their owner is sitting down, or standing stationary.
    Another thing you can do is bring a friend with you to the park, for some reason it can work. If you have any friends with dogs that get along with her, try bringing the other dog and the friend (cause in case of a problem its hard to control 2 dogs. Also group training could be very helpful.
    It is improtant to be able to control your dog at the park whether she has problems with the other dogs or not. Do more obedience work (again the group training would help) so whether there are other dogs or not she will listen to her when you tell her to sit, or lay down… (she cant cause a problem if she is sitting)
    If it is a severe enough problem I hate to say it but you may have to leave her at home when you go to the park with the other dog, or find a different way to excercise her. But usualy it is something that canbe fixed
    Also, go when there are not many dogs at the park, and explain to the other people there what your goal is, and that you are working on trying to fix her. Most of them wont judge you badly, and many will be appreciative of the heads up.
