I want a dog that will be my good buddy. One that will follow me everywhere, wants to be with me always, and likes to be trained and exerised alot. The rest of my family likes dogs, but they really just want it to be my dog. So this is kinda gonna be a one person dog. So, in you opinion, which one is the most
what I want. Which one is smarter, wants to please the most and is easy to maintain.
Thanks!

I’d say a lab, retrievers are great too, but a little harder to train, and tend to be quite dominant!

I have a yellow lab, but I would reccommend a retriever for you. They have the same sort of personality, but the labs shed ALOT, and even though retrievers have long hair, labs need more grooming.

    Good luck! :)

Neither type of retriever are a one-man dog, they love everybody. Both are smart and desperately want to please you. Both dogs shed, goldens need groomed. I suggest you get a FURminator, they are amazing for shedding. I have a golden, so obviously I like them best, but labs are very similar.

    Definitely a Labrador Retriever.
They thrive on family interaction, love to play, always want to be with you no matter where you go (even to the bathroom!), and excel at training (can be hard-headed sometimes, but learn very quickly) and exercising is the best for them. Especially retrieving and swimming (just don’t go jogging with him until he’s fully grown - HD and joint problems could pop up with that much bouncing on growing joints). They’ll hunt with you, play all day, do agility, flyball, play frisbee with you, chase tennis balls, sticks or bumpers and live to please you.
They blow their coat once a year after about a year of age and shed - however, it’s short hair and alot easier to deal with than a Goldens’ longer coat. You don’t have hair mats to deal with, lengthy baths, or filthy coats when you play in the mud/water.

Definitely a Lab!!! E-mail me if you are truly interested.

both dogs are great both are very active, smart easy to train but one of the difference is that if you don’t want to have trouble at showering him I suggest Labrador since their hair is shorter and easier to wash it has less maintenance.

I’d definitely go for a Golden Retriever.
But both lose LOADS of hair, so be prepared for that.
Labs stay “puppies” for ages (very bouncy and hyper)
